Eastbourne 2013

Our last day in Eastbourne was a bright day in Brighton! From India to China to Europe – students visited the Royal Pavillion in East Sussex’ university town. After this multicultural experience they had the chance to explore Brighton’s lanes and shopping streets or had view from Brighton Wheel. The teachers enjoyed a nice cup of tea in the Tea Cosy. In the evening we returned to the hotel for the final dinner of our trip. Afterwards the winners of the Eastbourne Quest were given their rewards. The evening turned into a funny fancy dress party.

Britain at its best: Our fourth day was dominated by a change of pouring rain and bright sunshine. At first, we celebrated birthday girl Alysia. Afterwards, the students were all doing different tours – a windy walk to the Seven Sisters (lots of mud, water, hail, and sheep, a talk of Reverend Peter Blee, priest of Berwick Church, about the artistic background of the church and a historical tour through beautiful Alfriston. We enjoyed lunch at the Smuggler’s Inn, one of the oldest pubs in the village and had a glimpse of the Long Man of Wilmington.

The students spent their third day on different projects. Interviewing people on the street, visiting schools and colleges as well as the local firefighters, exploring English literature and talking to the residents of a retirement home. In the end, all the students drew the same conclusion – the people of Eastbourne make them feel at home.

Our second day in Eastbourne started with bright sunshine. The students were quite busy with the Eastbourne Quest, but still had enough time to enjoy the beautiful seaside and some shopping. During the quest, they got in touch with the people of Eastbourne, asking them about political topics as well as about their holidays. Some of the results are very promising.

Stay tuned!
